This is the official download page for Capture Core, the screenshot app for Windows. We distribute it from piftoworks.com only — copies offered anywhere else are not ours. The free version has no time limit and no watermark, and it covers everyday screenshot work on its own.

The app is available in English. It starts in Japanese the first time; switch it in Settings → 言語 / Language → English (one click, no restart needed). Our getting-started guide shows where that setting lives and lists the Japanese label next to each step in case you need it.
You may see a warning while downloading
Straight answer first. Capture Core is signed with a code-signing certificate, but the app has not been downloaded by many people yet, so your browser or Windows may still ask you to confirm. This is a warning about how widely a file has been distributed, not a virus detection. Until that reputation builds up on the Windows side, here is how to get through it.
Microsoft Edge (while downloading)
Edge may say the file “isn’t commonly downloaded” in the downloads list. To save it:
- Hover over the item in the downloads list and click the “…” menu on the right
- Choose “Keep”
- If a dialog appears asking you to make sure the file is trustworthy, click “Show more” and then “Keep anyway”
Other browsers word it differently, but the idea is the same — choose the option that keeps or continues the download.
First run (Windows SmartScreen)
When you run the installer, Windows may show a blue screen that says “Windows protected your PC”:
- Click “More info” (the Run button does not appear until you do)
- Click “Run anyway” to start the installer
Some antivirus products show their own warning as well. These are all automatic notices aimed at files that have not been distributed widely yet, and a download from the official site (piftoworks.com) is fine.
If you would rather verify it yourself, the SHA-256 checksum further down lets you confirm that your copy matches ours exactly.
How to install
- Double-click the downloaded
Capture Core_1.1.72_x64-setup.exe - Follow the installer. There are no choices you need to think hard about
- When it finishes, Capture Core sits in the notification area (system tray). It runs in the background, so you can close the main window and still capture with a single PrintScreen
On first launch, if Windows 11 has assigned the PrintScreen key to its own Snipping Tool, Capture Core offers to free that key up once so PrintScreen opens Capture Core instead.

Check that the file is genuine (SHA-256)
You can confirm that the file you downloaded matches the one we published. Open PowerShell (right-click the Start button → “Terminal”) and run:

If even one character differs, the file is damaged or has been altered. Delete it without running it and download again from this page.
About updates
Capture Core checks for new versions when it starts and updates itself from inside the app, so you do not need to come back here each time. What changed in each version is published in the release notes.
Pro is a perpetual license, and updates within that line stay free. The free version receives the same updates.
